Pre-Shiloh Teachings (Pt. 6) - How To Get And Keep Deliverance
As seen in John 1:1 and 2 Corinthians 4:3, deliverance comes only by light. This light is a type of revelation and understanding that comes from Scripture—an enlightenment that pierces the heart. Whenever we are faced with darkness, we must administer light in response.
There are different ways that light can be administered. It may come through someone else, or by the individual coming into a personal level of understanding. Let’s explore how deliverance happens and what it takes to sustain it.
How Do We Get Delivered?
If you've come to recognize that something in your life is demonic in nature—and you sense the need for deliverance—here’s where to start:
1. Be Saved
You must be saved. If you are already saved, affirm your salvation. If you are not, you must be led to Christ. Your connection to God through Jesus becomes the foundation for deliverance.
2. Walk in Humility
Pride is one of the greatest hindrances to deliverance. It’s when you assume you know something for a fact, but actually don’t. Humility means stripping yourself of every ounce of pride for the sake of your destiny.
3. Complete Disagreement
You must completely reject and vocalize your disagreement with the demonic issue. This is especially crucial with sexual spirits, as agreement becomes a legal access point for the demon. Renounce it with intensity.
4. Confess and Forgive
Confess any specific sins that come to mind, and walk in forgiveness. There is no scenario where God rejects a truly repentant heart. Come with boldness, knowing that He receives you.
5. Renounce
To renounce means to actively sever ties with something. You are declaring that you no longer want any part in it.
6. Cast Out the Devil
Casting out a devil is not a prayer to God. It’s a command to the demon itself. Jesus said, “In my name they shall cast out devils” (Mark 16:17).
7. Listen for Instructions
After deliverance, be sensitive to the Holy Spirit. He often gives specific instructions that help secure your freedom.
How Do You Keep Your Deliverance?
This is often the bigger challenge. In Matthew 12:43, Jesus warned that unclean spirits will attempt to return if the house is left empty. Here’s how to guard what God has done:
1. Live in Holiness
Obedience to God is non-negotiable. His instructions are not suggestions—they are laws. Breaking them opens the door for the enemy to re-enter. A life of complete submission to God keeps you covered.
2. Be Led by the Spirit
The Holy Spirit offers customized help. Let Him lead you in your consecration. Walking with Him is not generic; it’s personal.
3. Replace Darkness with Light
Be baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit. Replace demonic activity with angelic activity. Establish a prayer altar. Prayer activates angelic movement in your space (Daniel 10).
4. Keep the Access Point Closed
Whatever allowed demonic entry in the first place—close it. Don’t reopen old doors.
5. Be Filled with Light
Stay grounded in the revelation of your authority in Christ. Walk in the awareness of who you are.
6. Build Positive Strongholds
Your responses reveal your internal structure. Build strongholds of truth in the exact areas where the enemy had influence.
7. Be Prepared to Enforce It
Deliverance doesn’t mean the fight is over. You must be ready to enforce your freedom with spiritual discipline, boldness, and truth.
Conclusion
Deliverance is not a one-time event—it’s a journey that begins with revelation and continues with responsibility. We must not only seek freedom but fight to keep it. With the help of the Holy Spirit, the authority of Christ, and obedience to God’s Word, we can walk in lasting liberty.
