The Case for Christ (Movie Reflection Pt. 4) - When is Enough Evidence, Enough?
Over the past few weeks, we’ve walked through The Case for Christ together, learning about obedience, the pursuit of truth, and the power of transformation. Now, as we conclude this series, we ask a piercing question: When is enough evidence enough?
The truth is, God has not left us without proof. His Word is filled with promises fulfilled. History itself bears witness. Our very lives testify to His goodness. So the real question isn’t whether there’s enough evidence to believe—it’s what we will do with the evidence we already have.
Stacking Up the Evidence
Lee Strobel set out as a journalist to disprove Christianity. He treated it as an investigation, testing witnesses, examining facts, and demanding proof. But instead of finding a hoax, he found the infallible Word of God and the undeniable truth of the resurrection.
As believers, we are called to approach Scripture with the same diligence—not with skepticism, but with sincerity. Acts 17:11 commends the Bereans for searching the Scriptures daily to confirm what they heard. God invites us to do the same: to engage His Word so deeply that when storms come, we stand immovable.
The Word of God is not just poetic or inspirational—it is reliable, tested, and true. History confirms it. Prophecy fulfills it. And countless testimonies, both ancient and modern, echo it.
The Resurrection: Our Foundation
The resurrection is the cornerstone of our faith. If Christ has not been raised, Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 15, then our preaching and faith are useless. But in fact, Christ has been raised.
If the resurrection is true, then Jesus is who He claimed to be. And if Jesus is who He claimed to be, then every word He has spoken can be trusted. On that foundation, we can build our lives without fear.
Living Evidence
But the evidence doesn’t end with Scripture or history—it continues in us. Many of us are living in answered prayers, yet we forget what God has already done. Every open door, every provision, every moment of peace in the storm is proof of His faithfulness.
Still, too often we live like atheists in practice—turning first to everything but God when trouble comes. But faith is not theory. It is trust, obedience, and reliance. The question is not whether God has spoken; it is whether we will live like His word is true.
Writing Our Story of Faith
Our lives tell a story. Each choice, each response to difficulty, each act of surrender or resistance speaks to what we really believe. Will our story be one of obedience, or one of doubt?
Joseph’s story shows us what it means to trust God when reality looks nothing like the promise. Though betrayed, enslaved, and imprisoned, he lived in agreement with God’s word. He had the keys to escape, yet he chose integrity and faith. In the end, God’s promise stood true.
The same is true for us: God’s promises are never in question. They will come to pass in His time. The real question is whether our lives will reflect faith while we wait.
Our Call
We’ve stacked the evidence. We’ve followed the facts. Now the invitation is clear: to trust God fully, to obey Him wholeheartedly, and to let our lives write a story that points to Christ.
When is enough evidence enough? The answer is today. Now is the time to believe, to surrender, to take refuge in the God who cannot lie and whose Word never fails.
